Kids teach a Busker Courage
Do you ever have those things that just hit your heart so deep?
As a street musician, I have been getting the biggest laugh watching these little kids put money in my tip jar this week. One of them put a dollar in the tip jar and started walking back to its parents, then ran back to the tip jar to grab a whole bunch of money out! Lol. It was the funniest thing.
What really hit me were two little sisters that came up to tip me. I asked them their names after a song. They told me their names and they said they were in preschool. One said, I go to a special school. She had autism. She said it with no fear of judgement. It made me think of how as an adult, I can become so afraid of being who I naturally am and how this little girl showed me so much courage.
My heart dropped because I thought how strong and precious, she was growing up with autism. It made me think about how hard it was for me growing up and being bullied and beat up in school when I was younger.
These kids just instantly respond to music, they love it, they dance, they look, they are curious; while most adults are off in their mental world of chatter, not noticing their environment, too afraid to dance, or sing.
I think I am realizing how much I have a heart for music and kids, and somehow, I would like to help kids with music.
